Project Scope
For 13 years, Nathan Hardeman has worked in Guatemala City ministering to the poorest communities. He writes, "In my time in ministry, I have seen how personal dedicated involvement in boys' lives can drastically change their outlook in life. Some of these boys just need someone to believe in them. We have seen young men leave gangs and become successful. Others have not been so lucky. They need a refuge in order to escape the grasp the gangs have on them."

In resonse to much prayer, Nathan and his wife Claudia are founding the Geber Derek Boys' Ranch. "Geber Derek" is Hebrew for "Way of the Warrior." Nathan says, "We take our inspiration from 1 Samuel 22:2 where David, running from King Saul, hides in a cave and all the troubled, distraught and indebted men come to him. Years later in David's life they are knows as the Mighty Men. We hope to see Guatemala's troubled youth reach their full potential in Christ. The boys that come through our progam come from extremely poor living situations with a bad home environment. The goal is for them to become productive members of society, who not only are professionals, but are also solidly grounded Christians."

Geber Derek has acquired almost 2.3 acres of land in two parcels and intends to provide housing for 24 boys starting from age 10. These boys will live in groups of 6-8 with house parents. Other facilites planned for the site include and Administrative / School building, Independent living apartments for older boys and a Retreat Center to offer a multi-purpose space and guest quarters for 50-60 people.

Phase 1 includes a masterplan and the design of a typical boys' home and the Admin / School building. Phase 2 is the Retreat Center.

Will you prayerfully consider donating your time to help Guatemalan youth experience hope through faith in Christ?
